INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHAIRPERSONS AND PRESENTERS IN PARALLEL SESSIONS
The sessions are an important factor in making the Peda-forum conference a successful event. This is why we kindly ask all presenters as well as chairpersons to keep the following instructions in mind.
The Peda-forum conference has four parallel sessions. The presentations are grouped into theme sessions based on the topic. A chairperson will be assigned to each theme session (the chairpersons will be contacted in advance).
Simultaneously, workshops on the conference themes will be organized.
Information on the schedule and the room for each session will be published on the web page.
The deadline for submitting the presentation material is 9 August 2018, email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Name your presentation material according to the session code and presenter, e.g. 1A John McEnroe. Write the email message subject as follows: Turku 2018: Presentation material 1A. In the workshops, presenters may choose to bring their material straight to the workshop. All presenters should bring their presentation on a USB stick as well. The presenters are responsible for copying any paper material themselves that they want to hand out to the participants.
The duration of one theme session is 1 h 15 min. Each theme session consists of 3-4 presentations. In a session with three presentations, there are 20 minutes for each presentation + 5 minutes for discussion. In a session with four presentations, the corresponding time slots are 15+5 minutes per presentation.
The duration of a workshop is 1 h 15 min. The workshop leader is responsible for the implementation of the workshop.
It is up to the presenters and chairperson to make sure that the session runs on schedule. Please, check the programme for the duration of your own session.
Tasks of the presenters and chairpersons
The presenters are themselves responsible for any arrangements needed for their presentations. They should also make sure that they finish their own presentation on time.
The chairperson introduces the session topic and presenters briefly at the beginning of the session. After every presentation, there is a short discussion led by the chairperson. At the end of the session please, close the session by thanking both the presenters and the audience.
Equipment in the session rooms
Each session room is equipped with a computer (Windows operating system), a data projector and an internet connection. The auditoriums/lecture halls also have a sound system.
Instructions for registering to the classroom computer and internet connection are given in the classrooms. Presentation material sent to the organizers in advance will be available at the computer in the room.
In theme session presentations (15-20 min/presentation) the use of private laptops is not allowed. If a specific software is needed for the workshops, and the workshop presenters, therefore, need to bring their own laptops, they should be in contact with email@example.com by 15 June 2018. (In these cases, the workshop presenters are also asked to bring their own cables and adapters.)
There is a support person for each room, who can help with practical matters.
